Counseling is a collaborative partnership between you and your counselor that takes place in a confidential, safe environment. Counseling is designed to help you work on areas of concern in your life, come to a greater understanding of yourself, and learn effective personal and interpersonal coping strategies. It involves a relationship between you and a trained counselor who desires and is willing to help you accomplish your individual goals. Counselors provide nonjudgmental guidance so that you and the counselor can identify objectives and potential solutions to problems that prevent you from achieving your goals in life. This type of counseling may be referred to as therapy, psychotherapy, or talk therapy.

Individual Counseling is one of the most popular forms of counseling, individual counseling gives you an opportunity to be treated on a one-on-one basis with a counselor. This process allows your counselor to be very thorough in understanding your particular issues in order to develop an individualized treatment plan to meet your needs.

Group Counseling is a type of treatment that involves a small group of individuals who share a similar issue. Typically, group sessions are facilitated by a professional on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. This is an opportunity for you to receive support from other group members and give support to others, a very important aspect of successful treatment in a group setting.

Family Counseling emphasizes the importance of involving the whole family in a treatment process. This form of counseling aims to reduce distress and conflict by improving family members’ interactions with each other. “Why family therapy ... because it deals with family pain” --Virginia Satir.

Couples and Marriage Counseling helps to improve romantic relationships by mastering the art of communicating with significant others, building trust, learning to compromise, and getting the relationship back on track.
